The baluster shape with lobed body and waisted neck with flared lip, the copper ground finely chased with alternating vertical lobes of dense floral scrollwork, highlighted in red and black lacquer, the shoulder and neck adorned with foliate and palmette bands.

This vase is characteristic of late Qajar-period Persian or Northern Indian metalwork, produced for domestic use and export. The use of contrasting lacquer-filled panels is reminiscent of earlier bidriware, though executed here in copper without silver inlay.
The vase dates to c. 1900.
