- Lot Description
A fine mid 19th century portrait of a seated gentleman dressed in suit coat and vest, white shirt and black tie. He is holding glasses in right hand, presumably having read the open letter on the table at his left hand. The unknown artist has done a good job with the hands and exhibits a higher quality than average. The walnut frame brings wonderful warmth and may be original. The painting preserves a wonderful historical moment.
