The ovoid shaped body with a faceted surface, surmounted by a domed, hinged lid with knop finial, beneath an insulated handle, on an integrated stand with burner on sweeping supports, the whole on a circular base with four shaped feet.
Marked: Stone with chasing hammer, over STERLING (1906-1937), and journeyman’s mark H for Arthur L. Hartwell (1909-1937).
Arthur Stone was described in magazine articles in the 1920s as one of, if not the, finest silversmith in America.
