- Lot Description
Elegant and richly textured, this large lidded bowl by the renowned Los Castillo workshop in Taxco, Mexico, exemplifies the studio’s mastery in combining organic materials with metalwork. Dating from the 1960s, this sculptural piece features alternating bands of silverplate and mother-of-pearl inlay, creating a luminous, radiating effect around the entire bulbous body. The lid is topped with a matching finial crafted from the same iridescent shell, enhancing its cohesive aesthetic.
Hand-hammered detailing and soft curves reflect the mid-century modern sensibility for form and texture. The bowl is fully marked on the underside with the Los Castillo hallmark, "Taxco, Hecho en Mexico, Plateado, TA-01" and bears the model number “11.”
This is a standout collectible piece for lovers of Mexican modernism, mid-century silverwork, or decorative arts with natural materials.

Local pickup is welcomed, please call in advance to setup an appointment and ensure the items are paid for before picking up. For out of state buyers we can provide shipping quotes or provide a list of shippers, we do not pack anything ourselves but we can drop off the pieces to a shipping store such as UPS or FedEx and arrange shipping with freight companies such as Plycon, Craters & Freighters, Tramo, Cube, and others.
