- Lot Description
Group of four (4) Nantucket-style baskets by Robert Thress (Tennessee, 1935-2015) crafted in Morristown, Tennessee. Each basket features a finely woven round form with a wooden base. One basket is fitted with a wooden lid inlaid with a carved bone depiction of a ship, while the remaining have wooden and bone handles. All baskets are signed “Bob Thress” and dated between “7-08” and “10-10.” Ranging from 3 in. H x 3 3/8 in. dia. to 8 3/4 in. H x 10 3/4 in. dia. Bio: Robert Thress was a retired land manager for the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and a skilled artisan who produced 50 to 55 Nantucket baskets annually.
