- Lot Description
Antique Youmud or Yomut Turkmen prayer rug, wool on wool. Central rust or brick red field with mihrab design within seven primary borders, stylized geometric designs throughout. Woven in red, rust, blue, and cream colors. 5 ft 8 in x 4 ft 0 in. Circa 1890's.
PROVENANCE: Private Des Moines, Iowa collection.
Condition
Overall very good condition. One small 1/2" circular area of wear to the left-center field and a could of worn areas to the lower center field. Possible old repair to the right margin, old repair to the upper center field. A few slight areas of abrash with some wear to the fringes of each end. Homemade denim hangers top verso.
