- Lot Description
Nashville, Tennessee retailed coin silver mug or cup with repousse floral design and vacant central cartouche, beaded design at lip and footring. Incuse mark "T. Gowdy" (Thomas Gowdey, b. 1795, working Nashville, 1825-d. 1863). Note: the misspelling on Gowdey's name in this mark, and on other "Gowdy" pieces, suggests they were made elsewhere and retailed by him in Nashville. 4-1/2"H, 3.97 oz troy. Circa 1850.
Condition
Very good condition. Foot ring does not sit completely flat.
