John Howell Wilson (American, born 1849) watercolor on paper landscape painting depicting a herd of cows wading in a pond and on its banks, with trees and a low mountain range in the background beneath a cloudy blue sky. Signed "John Howell Wilson" lower right. Unframed; sheet adhered to a piece of cardstock. Sheet: 14 1/4" H x 26 1/4" W. Cardstock: 14 1/2" H x 26 1/4" W.
Condition
Overall toning, scattered minute foxing spots. 2 1/4" tear extending from top right edge to sky. Areas of dampstaining, largest 1 3/4" x 10". Areas of loss, to edges of cardstock and sheet, largest 3 1/4".
