Paul Jacoulet (France/Japan, 1902-1960) shin hanga Japanese woodblock print depicting a woman in an ornate costume who reclines before a tropical beach landscape - identified as Celebes, also known as Sulawesi, an Indonesian island - seen through a doorway, 1940. Pencil signed “Paul Jacoulet” above butterfly chop mark, lower left. Titled Apres la Danse “Celebs” (After the Dance “Celebs”) to lower right margin. With Jacoulet's JP watermark, lower left. Editioned 344/350 en verso. Housed in a Japan paper folder with tissue interleaving, possibly original to the print. Sheet: 18 7/16” H x 14” W. Portfolio: 20 1/8” H x 14 3/4” W.
