Ellis-Jennings Repeating Flintlock Rifle
.54 caliber, 36" barrel length rifled bore. Markings on top of the barrel near upper tang of "US" over "JM" over "P." Inside the sliding lock is marked with "NT." Cartouche of "JM" in script inside oval on left side of stock. Has walnut stock with gray buttplate, patchbox, triggerguard, trigger, sliding lock, hammer, frizzen, barrel bands, and barrel. This is a modification of a late 1814 rifle using the 3 shot lock attachment to create the three-shot muzzle loading rifle. The complete Jennings locks are in place and fully operational. Ellis-Jennings repeating flintlock rifles are a great rarity among military arms and collectors. Originally 520 were on a federal contract, making this rifle a rare specimen.

The walnut stock is in very good shape with scratches, nicks and dings. The markings are very sharp and crisp. The cartouche is very sharp and legible. The barrel, barrel bands, triggerguard, trigger, hammer, frizzen and sliding lock are lightly pitted and blending to a brown patina. This rifle has been lightly cleaned and carefully done as to not take away the nice even look it has. The cap over the powder hopper has been replaced. The bore is in very good condition. Overall condition is very good. This is a great rarity in the military field.
