Model 1816 Springfield Flintlock Musket
.69 caliber, 42" barrel length smooth bore. Markings on lockplate in front of hammer of eagle motif above "US." Back of lockplate is marked Spring over Field over 1830. Top of barrel at breech marked in three lines of "P" in a circle over eagle head over "V." Barrel also marked at upper tang with "N" over "C;" to the right of that is marked "39." Upper tang is marked 1830. Buttplate is marked on top 1830. Sidelock is marked "S." The top of the lower tang is marked "C" and bottom of the lower tang is marked "J." Cartouche markings on left side of stock in script in an oval of "JH" over "2" and "EF." Behind the lower tang is cartouche with "JS;" above stamped in the stock "HM." Has walnut stock with browned barrel, barrel bands, sidelock and buttplate. The lockplate, hammer and frizzen are bright gray. Comes with trumpet-head steel ramrod.

The walnut stock is in very good condition with a few scratches, nicks and dings. The barrel, barrel bands and sidelock retain almost of all the original brown finish. The lockplate, hammer and frizzen are all bright gray metal color. Markings and cartouches are all very sharp and crisp. Bore is in good condition and can clean to better. Overall condition is very good.
