31" blade with etched panels of Confederate Naval coat-of-arms, a fouled anchor with crossed cannons. One of the panels has a Confederate Naval Flag. Marked on the ricasso Firmin & Sons 153 Strand & 13 Conduits London. On the reverse a six-pointed star with the word "Proved" in the center. The pommel and backstrap form a sea monster. The reverse of the guard is hinged so it will hang flat. Handle of sharkskin with twisted gilt wire. Black leather scabbard with brass fittings and the ring mounts representing square knots of rope. The drag is formed with two twisted snakes.
Blade is excellent with a dark grey look some staining. Brass with nice untouched patina. Handle is excellent. Leather scabbard is excellent with nice patina on the brass fittings. An excellent example of a rare Confederate naval sword.
