A P1827 Levee sword by Wilkinson numbered 18601 (c.1870) on the spine. Steel guard with integral strung rifle corps bugle beneath crown. Wire-bound fishskin grip. Sword is 37.5" oa length with narrow 5/8" straight blade bearing Victoria cipher and owners initials "CW" intertwined. Original steel scabbard.
Hart's Army List 1885lists a Captain Charles Worthham, King's Royal Rifle Corps (formerly the 60th Rifles), seconded to the London Rifles Volunteers as Regimental Adjutant in 1885. A letter from the Wilkinson Sword Archives needed to verify ownership.
