Model 1840 Springfield Flintlock Musket
.69 caliber, 42" barrel length smooth bore. Markings on lock of eagle motif over "U.S." and behind hammer in three lines Spring over field over 1841. Marking on top of barrel in three lines "V" over "P" over eagle head. Marking on upper tang 1841 and lower tang "S." Two cartouches in script "TW" inside oval on left side of stock. Marking on bottom of stock behind lower tang in two lines "JT" over "1." Original flint. Walnut stock with three iron barrel bands, barrel, lockplate, hammer, trigger, triggerguard and buttplate. Iron trumpet head ramrod and two sling swivels.

The walnut stock is in fine condition with scratches, nicks and dings. All iron parts have a nice brown patina turning to a plum in some areas. The barrel has brown-to-plum patina in the middle to the end of the barrel. The buttplate has brown-to-plum patina. The markings and cartouches are sharp and crisp. The bore is in good condition. This is a very fine all original flintlock musket. Overall condition is excellent.
