American (Cincinnati, Ohio), ca 1835. A coin silver trophy pitcher by Nathan Hazen (1809-1851), of helmet form with decorative bands, engraved on body Awarded by the / Hamilton County Agricultural Society / to / Allen Trimble / for his horse / Tariff / 1835. Maker's mark to underside of foot and partial mark to neck; ht. 10 in. (at handle), ht. 9.75 in. (at spout), wt. 19.74ozt (614g).
In 1831, following his second term as Ohio's governor, Allen Trimble dedicated himself to farming and breeding livestock. He helped to found the Ohio Board of Agriculture and was its first president, serving from 1846-1848.
