Regency Dining Chairs in Carved Mahogany
English, early 19th century. An assembled group of twelve Regency dining chairs in carved mahogany, each having a back-scrolled, tablet crest with a reeded perimeter flanked by conforming, reeded stiles with disk-carved ears, above a rope-twist medial rail and a later, over-the-rail leather seat with brass tacks, all rising on ring-turned front legs ending in tapered, cylindrical feet; largest oah. 33.75 in.
Surface wear and imperfections as would be expected with age and use, including some small nicks and chips. Some small, scattered veneer cracks and losses. Upholstery is later and with some light stains. Later glue blocks. Three chairs with repairs to stiles. One chair with a replaced front leg. Some other restorations and additions scattered throughout. Not a matched set, includes four of one pattern and eight of another, with slight variations.
