Rawhide covered Hope pattern wooden tree with Mexican style wide flat top saddle horn. Seat and horn covered in dark brown leather, cantle and A-fork bound in heavy brass. Complete with early Texas type girth assembly, wide stirrup straps and hand carved wood block stirrups. This particular saddle is shown on page 85 of Knopp, Confederate Saddles and Horse Equipment, and was reportedly captured at at the battle of Perryville, KY.

Good. Has normal age and service wear, some crazing on the leather, seam separation around the horn. Metal with even patina.
