Virginia Manufactory 1797 Contract Musket, First Model
.69 caliber, 44" barrel length. Markings on goose neck cock lockplate in front of hammer Virginia over Manufactory. At the rear of the lockplate is marked Richmond over 1803. Triggerguard is marked inside with an "8." In front of the trigger is marked "G." Walnut stock with three barrel bands. The upper band is a double band. All metal parts are a bright gunmetal gray. Has button-head steel ramrod.

Musket is in very good condition. The walnut stock is in excellent condition with only minor nicks and dings. The metal parts had very fine pitting but have been lightly clean to a bright gun metal. Some of the metal still retains the salt and pepper pitting. The markings are sharp and crisp. The bore is in good condition with pitting. Overall condition is very good.
