Unusual French Highly Figured Rouge Marble and Bronze Mantel Clock, 19th c., time and strike, the movement impressed "VA," and "TN," the arched case over a bronze face with Roman numerals, above an applied gilt bronze frieze of a classical woman in a cart pulled by dogs, over a stepped base with relief leaf decoration, on bronze disc feet, with pendulum and key, H.- 15 1/4 in., W.- 8 1/8 in., D.- 4 1/4 in.
Condition consistent with age. An approximate 1 inch chip is noted to the back bottom edge. Brownish tape residue is seen scattered on the back. Scattered flea-size chips are seen along the edges. Heavy wear is observed to the numerals. Moderate wear is noted to the gilt on the left and right and around the clock face window. An approximate 1 cm chip is seen to the front right corner. Several pea-size chips are noted along the bottom edge. An elegant example.
