Information provided by the Artist: A student of political economy who turned to art, Chagoya makes drawings, prints and multiples using pop and extemporaneous historic symbols to critique colonialism and the constant change of contemporary cultural paradigms. He is Full Professor at Stanford University’s department of Art and Art History, holds an Honorary Doctorate from the SFAI in 2017, received a J. S. Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship in 2021 and was the Artist Honoree at the San Jose Museum of Art Annual Gala and Benefit in 2023. His work is in the permanent collections of many national and international museums, including MoMA, The Met, and the Whitney Museum in NYC, SFMoMA, The Fine Arts Museums of SF, The British Museum/UK, Artium Museum of Contemporary Art for the Basque Country/Spain, and MUNAL-Museo Nacional de Arte/Mexico, among others. Enrique Chagoya's work is represented in the Crocker's permanent collection.
To pick up your artwork at the Crocker Art Museum, appointments will be available on Sunday, June 14 and Monday, June 15. Buyers may also ship their work at their own expense. Upon payment of the invoice, winning bidders will receive more information about artwork pick up and shipping.
