Information provided by the Artist: Susan Tonkin Riegel, a practicing artist was born in San Francisco and graduated from University of California Berkeley where she studied with notable Bay Area Figurative painters Elmer Bischoff and Joan Brown. She received her Masters Degree at California State University, Sacramento and has been involved in multiple solo and group shows nationally and internationally. She was awarded fellowships as an artist-in-residence from the Salzberg Foundation in Switzerland at Villa Sträuli and Leveld Kontstartum in Al Hallingal, Norway as well as the renown De Young Museum in San Francisco. She was a highly regarded college professor and is also the founder and director of the Red Barn Studios in Granite Bay, CA. Tonkin Riegel’s work embraces the language of symbols, archetypes, numbers, letters, fragmented words and simple marks. Most of her work includes figures, as the human figure represents the house we all reside within. Susan Tonkin Riegel's work is represented in the Crocker's permanent collection.
To pick up your artwork at the Crocker Art Museum, appointments will be available on Sunday, June 14 and Monday, June 15. Buyers may also ship their work at their own expense. Upon payment of the invoice, winning bidders will receive more information about artwork pick up and shipping.
