- Lot Description
A vibrant and varied collection of botanical, fruit, and bird illustration prints, together with two large decorative plates of historic teapot designs. The botanical portion includes numerous richly colored European fruit studies, printed in German and depicting apples, plums, pears, cherries, mangosteens, sapotas, guavas, and other exotic species in the style of 19th-century chromolithographs. Printed on heavy stock with detailed numbered identifications. Also included are multiple ornithological prints, among them two 1978 Hawaii Natural History Association plates after works by Dale C. Thompson, featuring Hawaiian bird species rendered with fine naturalistic detail. In addition are two reproductions of Chinese watercolor bird-and-flower paintings by Tung-Lai-Chen, published by F.A.R. Gallery, with delicate brushwork and traditional textile-pattern backgrounds. A third floral-and-bird print in a pastel palette is also present. The lot is rounded out by two large decorative prints (1998, Editions Au-delà Des Limites) featuring elaborate 18th–19th century teapot designs, richly colored and suitable for framing or kitchen décor. A wide-ranging and colorful grouping ideal for decorators, collectors of botanical and ornithological art, mixed-media artists, or anyone seeking a ready-made selection of prints for framing.
