LALOIR, HUBERT Petit Traitte contenant la Manire de D'Escrire sur plusieurs sortes de surfaces, des quadrans solaires, recueillis de diverse autheurs tant latins que francois par hubert Laloire Liegois ... escrit par le meme. Liege: 1661. Manuscript on paper, written in a neat and legible secretary hand by the author in black and red inks, with a folding table and diagrams illustrating the text. Period marbled calf. 7 x 4 1/2 inches (18 x 11.5 cm); folding table, [2], 125, [126-134] pp. blank, 21 ff. of diagrams (both recto and verso), approximately 71 in all, including three functioning volvelles. Binding worn, foot of spine chipped away, internally minor finger-soil but generally clean. Written primarily in French, this detailed manuscript on astronomical calculation was exactingly and lovingly produced with considerable flair, perhaps with an eye to publication. It contains a suite of diagrams that incorporates several volvelles, and these have survived intact. Pages 105-118 consist of a table of latitude and longitude for a wide range of locations, including the Americas.No condition report?
