BLAINE, DELABERE PRITCHETT
The Anatomy of the Horse, accompanied with Remarks Physiological, Pathological, Chirurgical and Natural. London: Sampson Low, for the author, [1790]. First edition. Publisher's boards, crudely rebacked. 22 x 17 inches (56 x 43 cm); 54 pp., 13 plates (including 6 outline plates), 5 hand-colored. The boards very worn, crudely rebacked in cloth, the stitching defective, the title-page heavily creased, several plates with marginal tears, some foxing and soiling.
Blaine was trained as a surgeon, but became a pioneering veterinarian. The present work, with its magnificent color plates, is extremely uncommon.
