An Edwardian silver four piece tea service comprising teapot, hot water pot, twin-handled sugar bowl and a cream jug, each of bellied form having a shell and gadroon rim above a single engraved initial to one side, with further lobed and fluted decoration to the lower body and each raised on four ball feet, the teapot with a personal presentation inscription, stained handles and finials to the tea and hot water pots. Hallmarked James Deakin & Sons (John & William F Deakin), Sheffield 1908. Teapot length measures 11 3/4 inches (30 cm), gross weight 73 ozt (2270 grams).
The tea set appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some minor dints and bumps. Hinged lids appear in good working order and are struck with the lion passant. Residues of polish. The hallmarks and maker's marks are clear and legible, some slight rubbing.
