Confederate CS "egg" oval belt buckle with leather waist belt. Die-stamped copper. Soldered iron wire hooks. Buckle 3 5/8 x 2 1/8 in. Belt length 36 in. Kerkis 272-274; Mullinax 116; Pritchard 44.
A CS "egg"-shaped belt buckle issued to the Army of Tennessee in quantity between 1862 and 1863. Mullinax notes "records indicate that telegraph wire was used to make the belt hooks."
