.52RF. 32.75'" barrel. SN: 481. Blued and color casehardened finish, brass buttplate, smooth walnut stock and forend. Breechloading single shot metallic cartridge rifle with triggerguard lever to open the action, sliding safety, elevation adjustable rear sight, Barleycorn front sight, saber bayonet lug under barrel and sling swivels. Standard Sharps & Hankins frame markings.
These scarce naval rifles were produced by Sharps & Hankins circa 1861-1862, with only about 700 actually produced and some 600 going to the US Navy where they primarily saw service with Marine guards on board ship. A solid example of a rare US Navy long arm from the American Civil War period.

Very Good. Bore fine and mostly bright with crisp rifling. Metal with a lovely plum brown patina mixed with some traces of original blue in protected areas. Markings remain clear and crisp. Mechanically functional action. Wood with some scattered bumps, dings and mars. A very nice example of a scarce Civil War long arm.
All packages valued at over $250 are shipped with a signature required upon delivery. All packages handled and shipped in-house by Fleischer's Auctions are not insured unless insurance is requested. Successful bidders who would like their packages insured are responsible for notifying us that this is the case and are responsible for paying the cost of insurance.
