Two-piece "Star" belt buckle. Cast brass plate, die-stamped brass tongue disc. Buckle 3 1/4 x 2 1/8 in. WITH Original leather sword belt with suspension rings.
Kerksis 368-369; Mullinax 284.
A large and attractive "Star" buckle. Mullinax identifies it as wartime Southern manufacture, possibly in New Orleans. Notably, the smoothed ringed wreath design is one of the only examples of an original Confederate buckle design not based on pre-war models. Most examples seem to have been issued to Texas and Mississippi officers.
