Sixth plate seated studio portrait daguerreotype. N.p., n.d. Full leatherette case with floral motif.
In view is a young boy seated, sharing his chair with a canine companion. With his head tilted to one side, the boy stares at the photographer's lens with a round object, likely a ball for the dog, resting in his gathered hands at his lap. The view is enhanced by delicate tinting added by hand. Dressed in a sharp plaid jacket with a scarf tied around his neck, the boy's ensemble is completed with a hat firmly set upon his head. His dog fits perfectly beside him, with his spotted paws lounging in view over the front of the chair. His head is slightly blurred, though his attention is generally directed toward the photographer's lens.
A charming capture of a young boy and his dog, an infamous pairing that exists within any time context.
