Maynard Model 1873 or 1882 Sporting Rifle, likely an "Improved Mid Range #12" as described by Maynard's catalog. Half stock single-shot breech-loading rifle. .35 caliber. One lock plate marked with patent information, the other lock plate marked with production information. Serial number stamped underneath tang. Barrel approx. 28 in. long. Overall length 43 1/2 in.
Excellent condition, as shown. Barrel has its original blue and the frame was case hardened, toned to pewter
