[Santa Fe]
Railroad Bell
[Copper alloy]
Approx. 11 1/2 in. tall; bell mouth diam.: 8 7/8 in.
A heavy bell, believed to be made of a copper alloy, is clearly marked “1901” and “Santa Fe.” The bell is possibly related to Sante Fe Central Railway. Originally chartered in December 1900 as the Sante Fe, Albuquerque and Pacific Railway Company, it became the Santa Fe Central Railway in July 1901. This bell, a railroad or station bell, was possibly cast in commemoration of the Railway.
