The violetish red is one of the most sought-after hues within the ruby spectrum, a color that sits between pure red and the cooler pigeon-blood register, and when achieved with excellent intensity as documented here it commands attention even at under one carat. Crown facet abrasions are noted; buyers should assess in person how the abrasions affect the face-up appearance and whether restoration costs are warranted. The flush-set I-J/VS old-style round brilliant flanks in platinum place this ring firmly in the antique and estate category.
