First edition copy of The Gathering of Zion: The Story of the Mormon Trail by Wallace Stegner, published in 1964 by McGraw-Hill as part of The American Trails Series, edited by A. B. Guthrie Jr.
This historical work recounts the westward migration of the Mormon pioneers during the 19th century and remains one of Stegner’s notable contributions to Western American history writing. The book includes illustrated plates and narrative describing the journey from the Midwest to the Salt Lake Valley.
The example offered here retains its original illustrated dust jacket, protected in a mylar cover, with the original purple cloth boards beneath.
