Translated by C. Craufurd.
Publisher: J. Walter, London. MDCCLXXXVII and MDCCLXXXVIII [1787 and 1788].
2 volumes. 8vo. Full leather bound. Raised spine with black ruled title, richly gilt. Gilt borders.
Vol. 1: lvi, 288 pp., with errata, 5 folding plates (2 chromolithograph).
Vol. 2: xvi, 414 pp., with errata, 6 folding plates (3 chromolithograph).
Each volume is H: 9 7/8 x W: 6 1/2 D: 1 1/2.
With a sketch map, torn from one of the flyleaves, by previous owner Thomas Howard (1746-1791).

Poor. 2 plates from vol. 1 are loose (plan 1 and 2) with tears. Missing plates 5, 7, 8, and 10 from Vol. 2. Pages warped from humidity. Panels on cover scuffed and rubbed. Corners bumped, scuffed, and rubbed with slight losses. Some toning and dog ears.
Bookplate: "Virtus Mille Scuta" of Effingham. With Ink inscription "Thomas Howard, lyse" likely Thomas Howard, 3rd Earl of Effingham (1746-1791). Howard volunteered in the Russian army in 1770, and in 1775 resigned his commission in the British Army in protest of British war against the American colonies. - Provenance
