1923 V100 Willard’s Chocolate Babe Ruth – BGS 1.5 – Canadian Issue (E.G.D. Collection)
Rare and exceptionally desirable 1923 Willard’s Chocolate V100 Babe Ruth card professionally graded BGS 1.5 Fair, representing one of the most significant and scarce Canadian pre-war baseball cards.
Issued by Willard’s Chocolate of Canada, the V100 series is widely regarded as one of the rarest and most important early Canadian baseball card issues, with surviving examples seldom encountered on the market — particularly featuring iconic Hall of Fame subjects such as Babe Ruth.
This striking sepia-toned issue captures Ruth during the prime of his legendary career with the New York Yankees, at a time when he had become the biggest star in professional sports and the defining figure of baseball’s live-ball era. Pre-war Babe Ruth cards continue to rank among the hobby’s most coveted and historically significant collectibles, with Canadian regional issues carrying an additional layer of rarity and collector demand.
The offered example has been professionally authenticated and encapsulated by Beckett Grading Services (BGS) with an overall grade of 1.5 Fair. Despite evident age-related wear consistent with the assigned grade and the fragile nature of the issue, the card retains strong visual appeal and outstanding display presence for an exceptionally scarce century-old Canadian Babe Ruth card.
