London, early 20th century. A refined English walking cane retailed by Brigg of London, the silver collar stamped "BRIGG LONDON." The handle formed from a tapering section of polished rose quartz, mounted between a domed silver top and lower silver collar. The shaft of pale wood, likely ash or similar hardwood, terminating in a ferrule. Thomas Brigg & Sons was among the most prestigious London makers of canes and umbrellas, supplying aristocratic and royal clientele during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The use of rose quartz reflects the Edwardian taste for semi-precious stone handles and understated elegance.
L: 36 in., (91.5 cm.)
Light surface wear and minor abrasions consistent with age and use. Silver with age-related patina. Shaft straight and stable.
