- Lot Description
This bronze sculpture, modeled by Ernst Seger (German, 1868-1939), depicts an industrial worker in a confident pose, gripping a large cogwheel, a clear tribute to labor, industry, and the working class. The figure is muscular and upright, wearing a work uniform and cap, standing on a black marble base. The theme and symbolism of the gear or cogwheel is a classic symbol of industrialization, mechanized labor, and collectivist progress. The figure’s attire and posture reflect mid-20th-century heroic realism, often associated with the industrialization era art. Provenance: The Collection of William Cervera (5/31/51 - 3/15/22).H: 16 3/4 in., (42.5 cm.)Excellent condition. Bronze with a very fine patina. Marble base intact.
