Cast in bronze with a verdigris patina, this striking Art Deco sundial features a kneeling male figure in a stylized pose, wearing a wide-brimmed hat and raising both hands toward the sky. The figure is mounted on an angular, hexagonal base engraved with radiating hour lines and incised numerals. At the center of the dial is a raised relief of a fish, functioning as the gnomon. Signed and dated on the base: "S. Meyer, 1939."
This piece combines functional design with sculptural artistry, emblematic of the late Art Deco period. The fish-form gnomon adds a whimsical and symbolic element, potentially referencing themes of time, transformation, or the zodiac.L: 23 in., (58.4 cm.)
