Bukhara or Khiva, late 19th century.
A traditional Central Asian dagger with a long, single-edged blade of triangular section and a robust reinforced spine, tapering to a fine armor-piercing point. The forte rises in a pronounced bevel characteristic of steppe-region workshop forging.
The grip formed of two polished bone scales, lightly patinated with age and secured to the full-width tang by small iron pins, the narrow steel backstrap running the full length of the hilt a construction strongly associated with Bukhara and Khiva cutlers of the late 19th century.
Housed in a later-made leather-over-wood scabbard, stitched on the reverse and terminating in a horn chape, typical of the region.
L: 14 in., (35.6 cm.)
Very good overall for its age. The grip scales are tight.
