- Lot Description
An Indo-Persian dagger with an unusual hollow grip and hollow blade which appears to have acted as a sheath for a smaller internal knife. The grip and the spine are both decorated in brilliant gold damascene in intricate floral patterning. The pommel is shaped as a sheep's head and acts as a lid for the container. The blade of the piece ends in a conical tip.
Indo-Persia, 19th century.
L: 11 1/2 in., (29.2 cm.)
Condition
Good condition overall. Koftgari work well preserved. Concealed dagger or item that was contained within the handle is missing.
