- Lot Description
A large, high-grade silver (85–95% purity), chased and engraved articulated fish, designed as a decorative object, possibly used as a spice container or incense holder. The body is composed of overlapping, articulated silver segments, allowing the fish to move flexibly when handled, mimicking lifelike motion. The surface is finely engraved with scales and details, and the head is realistically modeled with gills, eyes, and a twisted rope-form mouth. The fins and tail are delicately engraved and applied, adding to the overall realism. Articulated silver fish were popular in both Chinese and Indian silversmithing traditions, often created as novelties, charms, or functional containers, and prized for their craftsmanship and kinetic charm. No visible broken links or frozen segments.
