- Lot Description
Silver crown-size commemorative coin issued following the establishment of the Republic of China, early 1910s. The obverse featuring a left-facing portrait of Yuan Shikai in military uniform within a beaded border, surrounded by Chinese characters reading "中華民國紀念幣" (Commemorative Coin of the Republic of China), with stylized floral sprays flanking the bust.
The reverse is inscribed in English "MEMENTO" and "BIRTH OF REPUBLIC OF CHINA," within a dotted border. The center displays the characters "壹圓" (One Dollar) framed by sprays of crossed grain and foliage tied with ribbon below. Outer rim with star separators and continuous dentil border.

This commemorative dollar was struck in 1912 to mark the founding of the Republic of China after the fall of the Qing Dynasty. The portrait of Yuan Shikai reflects his political prominence at the time as the provisional President.
