- Lot Description
United States of America. A Liberty Head or Coronet Eagle gold ten-dollar coin, dated 1896, struck at the Philadelphia Mint, mintage 76,270. Obverse with the head of Liberty facing left, wearing a coronet inscribed LIBERTY, surrounded by thirteen stars and the date below. Reverse with heraldic eagle bearing shield, olive branch and arrows, with the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and denomination TEN D., the motto IN GOD WE TRUST above. Designed by Christian Gobrecht.
Graded MS-62 by SEGS. Fully uncirculated with noticeable contact marks in the fields and light abrasions consistent with the assigned grade. Retains underlying mint luster with moderate bagmarks typical for the issue in lower Mint State preservation.
D: 1 1/16 in., (2.7 cm.)
Condition
Mint State 62 as certified. No evidence of circulation wear.
