An American Colt double-action revolver chambered in .38 caliber, manufactured by the Colt's Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company. The revolver features a solid-frame double-action mechanism with a fluted six-shot cylinder, round barrel marked "COLT D.A. 38", and a fixed front sight. The left side of the frame is stamped with the Colt patent dates "PAT. SEPT. 19. 1871 / JULY 2. 1874 / JAN. 19. 1875" and bears the Colt rearing horse trademark.
