- Lot Description
Oriental saber or shamshir with a characteristic form of pommel chased crossguard brass, blade with one long groove and two smaller grooves, fully chased in imitation of wootz. Decorated with two moons, a sun and two gold signatures in a cartouche.
Wooden scabbard covered with shagreen leather, wire-stitched. Two embossed brass fittings and two bracelets.
Late 18th century.
L: 39 in., (99 cm.)
Condition
Very good with all parts tight and original. Minor signs of wear and age.
