- Lot Description
A finely decorated gilt-bronze lidded box with chased and molded foliate patterning to the exterior and a lid comprised of a cast-bronze miniature depicting a scene of peasant life surrounded by a gilt-bronze wreath. The interior is lined with blue fabric. The underside being decorated with a delicate guilloche pattern and affixed with 4 molded feet. Continental Europe, 19th century.3 3/4 x 2 3/4 x 1 3/8 in., (9.5 x 7 x 3.7 cm.)The overall condition is very good with expected signs of wear and age such as minor fading to color of interior fabric, small spots of oxidation to bronze, and some small scuffs to bottom.
