- Lot Description
A hunting dagger with a large, heavy blade that is flat on one side and beveled on the other, an unusual shape for a hunting dagger. The grip is of staghorn, and the guard and pommel surrounding it are of blackened steel. The scabbard is of black leather with blackened steel fixtures, the most striking part being the large, green, decorative knotwork that adorns it.
Germany, 19th Century.
L: 18 1/2 in., (47 cm.)
Condition
Dagger is in fantastic condition with only very minor wear consistent with age and use. Scabbard leather is dry and cracked, flaked off along most of the front edge, but still extant in most other places. Rope is dry but still intact.
