Of baluster form with a slightly flared neck, the copper body finely decorated in cloisonné enamels on a deep ruby-red ground, the surface worked with an allover patterned texture beneath the translucent enamel. The principal decoration depicting a small bird perched upon a flowering branch, surrounded by white blossoms and buds with green and pale blue foliage, the design rendered in fine wire cloisons with carefully shaded enamels and delicate color transitions. The reverse left largely undecorated to emphasize the richness of the red ground. The rim and foot with plain metal mounts, the base of copper with visible wear consistent with age.
H: 14 1/2 in., (36.8 cm.)
Very good condition, with a small chip.
