- Lot Description
A Persian or Ottoman kard dagger kept in a slightly unusual silver sheath shaped similarly to that of a jambiya. Hanging from a ring on the sheath is a chained chatelaine with multiple small tools, including a hook, pick, ear spoon, tweezers, and iron stylus. The grip of the dagger is faceted, with eight sides that have been decorated with alternating chased foliate patterns and fine beadwork.
Iran or Turkey, 19th century.
L: 9 1/4 in., (23.5 cm.)
Condition
The sheath and tools are in very good condition, with minor dents and surface wear consistent with age. Blade is well attached, though heavily pitted.
