- Lot Description
Baluster-form porcelain vases raised on stepped, square bases, each fitted with elaborate scrolling gilt metal handles in the Rococo Revival taste and enriched with gilt highlights throughout. The bodies painted with finely detailed architectural city views within reserved panels, depicting monumental gates and urban façades populated with small figures, likely after engravings of Continental landmarks. The white-glazed ground is accented with parcel-gilt bands at the neck, shoulder, and foot. The style and combination of porcelain with applied gilt metal mounts suggest decorative vases intended for mantel or cabinet display rather than functional use.
